This year, we hosted our first ever pitch-style competition: Marketing for a Mission. Marketing teams created plans for two Colorado nonprofits –Spero Recovery Center and Mattersville – to help them solve real-world problems. Read more about the winners and their plans below!

AMA Colorado teamed up with The Lion Project and Cause for Awareness to bring you a marketing competition with a mission. The Denver-area's top marketing talent will compete to help solve real-world marketing challenges faced by local nonprofits. This 90-minute event offered attendees a way to connect with local nonprofits and learn how they too can help their community using their professional skill set.


Social Media Marketing Plan – Spero Recovery Center: Location3 Media

location3Location3 Media presented a Social Media Marketing Plan focused on strengthening brand perception and driving call volume for Spero Recovery Center. Their plan included identifying target audiences, creating a tactical approach to provide education and drive donations, and leverage paid social advertising to increase their reach. The Location3 team focused on actionable strategy Spero Recovery Center could use. Congratulations to the team!



Social Media Marketing Plan – People's Choice Winner: Booyah Advertising

Congratulations to the People's Choice winner, Booyah Advertising! This team's plan for Spero Recovery Center focused on targeted, personalized messaging for their intended audience. Their strategy leveraged Facebook interest groups, similar audiences, and pixel-based target to maximize paid social ad impact and increase engagement. They also presented several creative ideas and opportunities for Spero Recovery Center to consider! Congratulations again to this team for winning the People's Choice award in the Social Media Category!

Content Marketing Plan – Mattersville: Clique Studios

cliqueClique Studios created a content plan centered around three goals to drive high impact for Mattersville: attract more potential donors, attract more potential volunteers, and motivate the Mattersville audience to get involved and contribute. The team presented a strategy composed of creating a Docu-series showcasing the brand, engaging audiences by highlighting a new wolfdog every week, offering Q&A sessions, and more! Content Marketing Plan – People's Choice Winner: Booyah Advertising

For this category as well, congratulations (again) to the People's Choice winner, Booyah Advertising! In this category, the team from Booyah focused on leveraging Mattersville's already existing content on TikTok. Their goal was to expand the brand's reach by appealing to both sides of the charity, and ultimately drive more donations. The team also focused on leveraging a variety of content types throughout the stages of the marketing funnel.

Attendees watched marketing teams pitch their recommended strategies in one of two challenge categories: social media marketing and content marketing. Teams presented their marketing strategies based on briefs previously provided to them from local nonprofits Spero Recovery Center and Mattersville.


Following the winner announcements, nonprofits, marketing teams, and attendees participated in a virtual post-networking session and discussed what it’s like working with nonprofits. Attendees also received a “menu” outlining local nonprofit marketing opportunities. This was a great opportunity to learn how marketers can help amazing causes using their skillset, gain added experience and connect with others with similar passions.


Donations from event attendance went directly to the participating non-profits - Spero Recovery Center and Mattersville - so they could set their new marketing plans into motion!
